CURRICULUM PROGRAMS

This is our main bread and butter. We come in within your HPE lesson and take a tiny snippet of the year's teaching load. We don't by any means replace quality teaching - that we leave to you, the professionals. But, we acknowledge that we're not all experts in all facets, so for specialist fitness training, that's where we come in!

Our programs fit with various content descriptors in the 'Movement and Physical Activity' strand of the HPE curriculum. Each program also helps develop focus areas such as Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) and Rhythmic and Expressive Movements (RE). For example, our programs align with the following content descriptors:

Moving our body

- Perform / practice and refine fundamental movement skills and movement sequences using different body parts ACPMP008

- Practise specialised movement skills and apply them in a variety of movement sequences and situations ACPMP061

- Use feedback to improve body control and coordination when performing specialised movement skills in a variety of situations ACPMP080

- Provide and apply feedback to develop and refine specialised movement skills in a range of challenging movement situations ACPMP099

Understanding movement

- Explore how regular physical activity keeps individuals healthy and well ACPMP010

- Examine the benefits of physical activity to health and wellbeing ACPMP046

- Participate in physical activities designed to enhance fitness, and discuss the impact regular participation can have on health and wellbeing ACPMP064

- Manipulate and modify elements of effort, space, time, objects and people to perform movement sequences ACPMP065

FIT CLUBS

One of our newer offerings is FIT club. We usually work this in to lunchtime, before, or after school time. And is an alternative to the usual sports trainings. Oftentimes, students who have not nominated for a sport, may select to do our FIT club, or of course, they may wish to participate in addition to their sport traings also.

We love asking students what their fitness goals and interests are and seeing them improve throughout the term/year. We can tailor the programs to suit your needs, and often run a different program each week, to keep students engaged, interested and of course expose them to a large variety of ways to exercise and keep FIT!

SPORTS DAYS

We love the fact that Sorts Days are becoming more inclusive. No longer are they just about the mainstream sports, but also offering a variety of recreational activities in which students can participate also. It's great to see different students have their time to shine in different events.

We often run a station / rotations for each year level. Another favourite is choreographing, teaching and/or presenting a whole school health hustle as your warm up for the day!

We've also had our instructors stay on and be a 'helper / official' for the day too! Anything to assist you in your day running as smoothly as possible. After something different? Just ask, we're happy to tailor a package to your needs.

WELLBEING DAYS

We love being part of your school wellbeing day, whether that's as part of the pastoral care program, R U OK Day, or anything in between. We aim to bring some movement, music, fun and positive vibes. There's nothing better than students singing along and getting in to the session!

STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Having taught group fitness classes in gyms across Adelaide for 20 years, I still love working with adults. I've been lucky enough to work with schools for their staff meetings, and staff development days. Often running our yoga program with some additional relaxation.

I was lucky enough to complete the 4 day Positive Education training in 2014, and find many of the principles work well with yoga, marrying the two in some of our longer staff professional development days for a wholistic theory and practical session.

HIIT

HIIT is high intensity interval training. This style of training has been proven to allow participants to obtain the greatest fitness gains in the shortest possible time frame.

Students will work at high intensity, followed by full rest intervals. The workouts are designed to be body weight only and incorporate both strength and endurance exercises. Your professional fitness instructor will explain various principles of training and training methods throughout the work out.

- Students learn different principles of training and training methods

- Fastest gains in strength and cardiovascular endurance

- Can be adapted to suit various ability levels

- Best suited to classes in specialist HPE streams

Weights

Did you know group exercise classes can also be delivered using hand weights / dumbbells?

That's right! We have a set of dumbbells for a small class, but can run this program for larger groups also with access to hand weights at the site.

- Students will learn a variety of compound and isolation exercises with hand weights

Core Class

This is not for the faint-hearted. We might be laying on our back for most of this class, but it is by far one of the hardest workouts.

The core class aims to isolate all of the muscles in the core including rectus abdominis, obliques, transverse abdominis, the ever-difficult to train lower abs, glutes and posterior chain.

- Great for specialist PE classes who really want results

- Great program to set the core alight and feel the burn

- Works well in amongst other programs

- Improves core strength, posture and stability

- Teaches students about muscles and how to use them properly for efficient movements in all areas of life

The great thing about this program is we can vary the exercises each week/lesson to keep things engaging as well as tailor to your students' interests/needs. If you have access to a gym and/or equipment, great, we'll utilise that! If not, no stress, many of our circuits can be easily adapted to use only minimal, or no equipment!
